FIRST AID

Webster's Dictionary states that "First Aid is the emergency
treatment given to someone ill or wounded." We will teach you how to
respond to an emergency that requires First Aid treatment, such as
choking, seizures, bleeding, shock, breaks, and sprains.
All employers who are subject to the Occupational
Health & Safety Act must comply with Regulation 1101 under Section 3
of the Workplace Safety & Insurance Act.
The Life Saving Company is an official
provider of the following CERT and EMS First Aid
programs, which are approved by the
Workplace
Safety and
Insurance
Board (WSIB):

Standard First Aid / CPR: 2 day program, Instruction Time: 13 hours
(minimum)
-
Emergency First Aid / CPR: 1 day program, Instruction Time: 6.5
hours
The Life Saving Company will provide you with consultation regarding
workplace requirements for First Aid kits and emergency planning for
any size company, group, or organization.
Basic requirements of a First Aid kit, according to WSIB Regulation
1101, Section 8, are as follows:

Current edition of a standard First Aid manual

Card of safety pins
-
Dressings consisting of:
- 12 adhesive dressings individually wrapped
- 4 sterile gauze pads, 3 inches square
- 2 field dressings, 4 inches square or 2 four-inch sterile
bandage compresses
- 1 triangular bandage
